***

So far, this bibliography mainly consists of a book I found in the bargain bin at 57th Street Books and part of the shelf of Midwestern content at the Harold Washington Public Library (United States Library of Congress call numbers F351-F353, subject heading "Mississippi Valley").

I had planned to conduct further research on this topic at the Newberry Library, American Geographical Society Library, and Maclean Collection for Spring 2020. We all know how that turned out.

Additional citations and recommendations welcome.
